Students posed naked for a charity calendar, only to find their images appeared on a porn site. It is suspected that someone else from the university posted the nude pictures.

The girls, from the University of Portsmouth, had stripped off for the annual Athletics Union calendar, sold in the university to raise money for charity.

However they were horrified when someone spotted their unedited images on a porn site.

It is not known if the porn-loving person who “stumbled across” the images was a friend or fellow student, although it is suspected that another student placed the images in the first place.

In the edited version of the pictures used in the calendar, the students’ modesty has been preserved. However the images posted to the sex site were more graphic.

Derogatory comments on the porn site made fun of the women and criticised their bodies.

The students are said to be “devastated” and the fiasco has sparked debate over whether the naked calendar is appropriate at all.

Students' Union women's officer, Becky Gardner, said: "I appreciate this calendar is for charity but there are other fun ways to go about fundraising that don't harm female students.”

Student Rachael Lloyd, 21, who was on the front of the 2011 calendar, said: “I just did it for charity. No one told me of the risks. Now I am worrying what my future employers will think.”

More than 150 women and 250 men stripped off for last year's calendar, carrying on a university tradition that, since 2006, has raised £10,000 for charity.

Meanwhile, French Rugby star Henry Chavancy of Racing Metro, was criticed after posing for naked calendar 'Les dieux du stade' (Gods of the Stadium).

The calendar is produced by Racing's Top 14 rivals, Stade Francais, and Chavancy’s move was slammed by his boss, Racing president Jacky Lorenzetti.

"If Stade Francais want to sell a calendar with their players posing in the buff, it's nothing to do with us," said Lorenzetti in a statement.

"It's not our story. These 'gods of the stadium' are not from our stadium. So to find a Racing player… in the 2012 calendar? We say clearly, no."
