Police inspector Henrik Pederson said “A somewhat confused person called and said he was out walking in the woods where he had found a seal pup. I though he was joking at first”, in a report by The Daily Telegraph.
 
Robert Sandefors who discovered the seal believed that it had crawled into the woods on its own based on its tracks, travelling three kilometres over the snow and three kilometres into the woods.
 
Sandefors told Swedish radio “He must have gotten separated from his mother and gotten lost and gone in the wrong direction”.
 
The lost pup was taken to the nearby Dalaelven River where it was released.
