The former data entry worker Lauren Odes worked for two days at Native Intimates, a midtown Manhattan wholesale lingerie company, before a supervisor told her the store owners thought her outfit was too “distracting”.

Odes, 29, said: “When I first started working there, I asked what the dress code was, and I was just told to look around and see what everyone else was wearing.

“So I did. The dress was very casual athletic wear to business attire.”

Odes said the Orthadox Jewish company owners were offended by her outfits.

Her supervisors reportedly said: “Maybe you should wear your boyfriend’s T-shirt and sweatpants.”

The manager then apparently suggested: “Lauren, try taping down your breasts to make them appear smaller.”

Odes was made to dress in a bright red bathrobe by her female supervisor.

Odes said: “”She told me to sit at my desk and wear it all day. I felt completely humiliated.”

“She put the bathrobe on me and tied the belt and I returned to my desk wearing it.”

She then went out of the office to buy a sweater that “went to her ankles” as suggested by her supervisor, but while she received a call while she was out to say that she was fired.

The company specialises in sexy lingerie and the Native Intimates website includes racy blogs written by women, about how to get a man’s attention.

Native Intimates declined to comment on the lawsuit.
