The prop entered an early guilty plea and will sit out Cronulla’s match on Sunday against Melbourne Storm after he delivered a sharp one-two to his opposing forward’s chin during his side spirited 14-6 win at ANZ Stadium.

While the Sharks are disadvantages, NSW coach Laurie Daley praised Gallen’s “leadership”.

The debutant coach said radio station Triple M: “I thought it was great leadership. It’s a hard game and it’s played by hard men. He stood up represented his state and showed great leadership.”

An alleged swinging arm which preceded the toe-to-toe punch-up wasn’t deemed worthy of a charge.
