The race’s decisive moment came when a clash of oars saw Cambridge’s Luke Juckett lose at least five lengths as he briefly fell from his number two seat and Oxford took full advantage, pulling into an unassailable lead.
Cambridge did protest after the race, which took place on the River Thames, but it was dismissed by umpire Richard Phelps.
