Pete Doherty has pleaded not guilty to possessing cocaine.

The Babyshambles frontman denied the charge during a preliminary hearing at Thames Magistrates’ Court in east London today.

Doherty was charged during an investigation into the death of filmmaker Robin Whitehead at a Hackney flat.

Two of Doherty’s friends have also faced charges as part of the investigation.

Alan Wass was charged with cocaine possession while Peter Wolfe faces two counts of cocaine possession and one count of supplying the drug. Both men deny the charges.

The hearing was due to take place a few weeks ago, but it was adjourned after all three men failed to turn up to court.

The case has been committed to Snaresbrook Crown Court on March 29
