The 69-year-old was detained at 7.40am at a London police station. Clifford is the sixth person to be questioned by police as part of the £2m investigation.
“The individual falls under the strand of the investigation we have termed ‘Others’,” said a Met Police statement.
”We are not prepared to discuss further.“
Max Clifford found fame as one of the country’s biggest PR and publicity experts.
Clients of his PR firm Max Clifford Associates include Simon Cowell and Sir Chris Hoy.
Clifford has said of the Jimmy Savile scandal that many stars had contacted him in fear of being implicated in the allegations.
