Rainbow Beach in Queensland has been voted one of the best beaches on the globe – now it is reckoned to be Australia’s best beach to get out and explore during the winter months by Traveller. Traveller said Rainbow Beach is the per-fect place “to canter along a beach amid a shimmer of spray.”

The area is no newcomer to awards. Earlier this year Rainbow was named one of the nine most beautiful beaches in the world by Huffington Post which de-scribed the beach in an on-line blog as “Vibrant rainbow-coloured sand dunes hug the beaches of this gorgeous coastal town.” Lonely Planet has also given Rainbow beach recognition, as one of the top 10 most unusual beaches in the world.

“I’ve always told the government bodies this really is the jewel of the whole shire, the whole area. It’s pristine,” said Food Works Ruth Modine in the Gympie Times.
