To make Christmas a little less daunting – and so you can focus on getting wasted to best cope – we’ve compiled this list of restaurants that will be flinging open their doors on Christmas Day.
Bel & The Dragon country inns and restaurants will cook, serve and even do the washing up for you this Christmas. Head Chef Ronnie Kimbugwe has created a Christmas Day menu for everyone which focuses on fresh, locally sourced ingredients, favouring small independent producers, whilst incorporating all the wonderful flavours of Christmas. Priced at £75 per person, dishes include pumpkin soup, Josper grilled Jack O’Shea rib-eye of beef and homemade mince pies.
James and his wife Louise at Restaurant James Sommerin in Cardiff will show you a true Welsh Christmas Day, which is reflected in their Bwydlen Cinio Nadolig (Christmas Day Menu). The five course menu, priced at £140 per person, includes delectable duck liver, goose, baked truffle and crème brulee. With first-class views of the sea, this place offers a Christmas day with a difference.
Head to the Michelin pub of the year, The Greyhound on the Test in Hampshire, to celebrate the festive season in front of roaring fires. Head chef Neil Cooper has put together a fab menu, with dishes that including roast celeriac soup with honey and chestnut, guinea fowl terrine, and roast breast of Hampshire turkey. For dessert, try the lemon possset with poached pear and shortbread. The three course menu is priced at £35 per person.
Stoke Place hotel in Buckinghamshire will be celebrating Christmas this year in their brand new restaurant – Seasons at Stoke Place. Head chef James Dugan will be offering a special Christmas Eve dinner as well as Christmas lunch, Boxing Day brunch and a festive afternoon tea.
Michelin Bib Gourmand awarded Indian Essence will be opening its doors on Christmas day to serve modern Indian cuisine with a festive twist. Atul Kochhar has created a luxurious five course Christmas lunch menu, which includes venison brochette kebabs, squid ink pepper crusted grilled king prawns and Indian seafood kofta. For dessert, be adventurous with a Christmas mincemeat samosa. Christmas Lunch here is £60 per person.
108 Brasserie, just off Marylebone High Street houses two distinctive dining areas; the chic bar, and the brasserie’s restaurant, where its modern British dishes take centre stage. It offers uncomplicated food made from the highest quality ingredients, centred around the restaurant’s Josper grill. The Christmas Day menu will include foie gras parfait, mulled wine jelly, Norfolk bronze turkey and Christmas pudding, with a price of £80 per person for five courses.
Holborn Dining Room will serve up a seasonal, locally sourced three course Christmas Day menu for £65, accompanied by a string trio from 12pm-5pm. Options include roast parsnip soup, hand carved Maldon smoked salmon with spiced avocado, Norfolk bronze turkey, and Christmas pudding soufflé.
