“Thomas Broich is widely considered to be the most consistent marquee player the A-League has had. This season has been another outstanding season for him and he is an integral and influential part of Brisbane Roar’s success,” said FMA President, Ray Gatt.
He said Broich “easily” won the FMA A-League Player of the Year from Adelaide United’s Marcelo Carrusca and Isaias Sanchez and other nominees that included Stein Huysegems (Wellington Phoenix), David Williams (Melbourne Heart), Matthew Spiranovic (Western Sydney Wanderers), Matt Smith (Brisbane Roar) and Ali Abbas (Sydney FC).
Broich, 33, joined Roar at the start of the 2010 season and has been a consistent performer year in, year out.
The FMA named Central Coast Mariners, last year’s winners who narrowly missed out on a place in this year’s A-League final after losing 2-0 to Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday, as the Club of the Year – the first time they’ve won the award.
Western Sydney Wanderers, who lost to Central Coast Mariners in the 2013 final, will meet Brisbane in the title decider on May 4, after Roar beat Melbourne Victory 1-0 on Sunday thanks to a brilliant goal from Victory-bound Besart Berisha.
