Romy, runner up in the 2015 Observer Food Monthly ‘Best restaurant’ Awards, will spend two weeks (Tuesday 5-Sat 9 and Tues 12-Sat 16 Jan) at the Marylebone culinary hub, serving up a creative tasting menu in her signature style. Renowned for marrying the fresh and vibrant flavours of her native West Bengal with local West Country ingredients, Romy has been lauded for bringing a welcome lightness of touch and healthy perspective to Indian cooking.
The menu will take diners on a culinary grand tour of the subcontinent. Starting with the fresh and vibrant tastes of Kerala in the south (deep-fried grated potatoes, chopped onions, fresh coriander, green chillies, dessicated coconut, peanuts and spices with avocado mint dip) the savoury courses take in several states, culminating with a rich and complex boar dish from royal Rajasthan (Laal Mass wild boar marinated in yoghurt, red Kashmiri chilli and coriander with yellow dal, rice and onion salad). A sweet course comes in the form of rice pudding from Hyderabad, fragrant with saffron and cardamom (click here for a full sample menu, vegetarian option also available).
Tickets are £35 and can be booked online at https://www.tickettailor.com/checkout/view-event/id/39136/chk/f523.
