Shakira’s Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) is the official anthem of this year’s World Cup in South Africa.
And there we were (along with pretty much everyone else) thinking it was K’naan’s Wavin’ Flag. Well it’s not!
It has now been announced that Shakira’s Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) is the genuine official anthem.
Er, OK then. We’ve got nothing against Shakira. Ms ‘She Wolf’ can belt out toones and she’s certainly not too horrible to look at, but we’re not sure why a Colombian singer has been chosen as the official ambassador of the World Cup in South Africa.
Saying that, Shakira will be backed up by South African band Freshlyground. Have a watch then tell us if you’re outraged that it’s not a Saffa singer singing the official song.
