Jenna Conti, a Florida woman has been told she can’t wear a custom-made mermaid tail because it violates a policy against swim fins. This is in spite of her being allowed in the Aquatic Club pool with the fin previously. On Monday, the FishHawk Community Development board voted to keep her out of the pool because of the swim fin policy.
Obviously this is an issue with health and safety, seeing as people can’t be trusted to pretend to be mermaids. They might become too involved in their own fantasy and believe that they can actually breathe underwater.
Jenni Conti, full-time hair stylist, hasn’t been a mermaid for very long (or ever, technically). She and her 10-year-old son saw some mermaids at the Tampa Bay Renaissance Fair earlier this year and were “enthralled”.
