Overview There are retro photos of beach scenes on the walls, smooth pebbles on the bedside tables and the shabby-chic wooden furnishings throughout look as though they could have been swept into the rooms at high tide. In other words, you get the impression that some surfer-cum-designer has had an absolute blast thinking up all the beachy quirks.

It’s a short walk to the shore at Camber Sands, so you get everyone staying here from watersports fanatics keen on the top-notch kitesurfing conditions to those who are just taking a weekend breather from London (it’s just 90 minutes by train).

Wow factor  Beach Bistro, the hotel’s sunny, comfortable cafe-restaurant is somewhere you could accidentally end up spending half your weekend sitting around in, especially after a few glasses of wine and one of their famed fish finger sandwiches.

Rooms Light and airy. The weathered old paperbacks in each room are a nice touch and relaxing read.
