No1 – Maradona’s ‘greatest ever’ goal (1986)

Four minutes after giving Argentina a 1-0 lead over England with his infamous ‘hand of God’ goal, Maradona put his side further in front with one of the greatest goals in international history. Taking the ball in his own half, Maradona slalomed through, and just burnt off, every English challenge, before recovering sufficient composure to slot the ball past the keeper from a deceptively tough angle. Unquestionably one of the greatest World Cup goals ever, bearing the mark of an exceptional player at the very peak of his powers.
