Out of the 590,000 international backpacker arrivals to Australia in the year ending December 2014, four per cent travelled on to New Zealand.
Tourism New Zealand will target international visitors in Australia via Facebook campaigns, which will allow them to deliver campaign messages that are specific to backpackers, to inspire them to visit New Zealand after Australia.
The campaign will highlight the amazing range of experiences that are on offer in New Zealand.
In addition to the Facebook campaign, Tourism New Zealand will continue to work closely with STA Travel to help convert interest into bookings.
