On Thursday Cullen, 46, was convicted of driving with mid-range PCA in July. Police also found weapons in his car including a Taser, guns, and rifles.

The weapons were seized and will be destroyed. It is unknown what the artist was doing with the firearms.

The artist, who won the Archibald Prize in 2000 for a portrait of actor David Wenham, was sentenced to 10 months imprisonment. Magistrate Lee Gilmore suspended the term on the condition of a good behaviour bond for 10 months time.

Cullen will also have to complete a treatment plan arranged by a doctor. He is disqualified from driving for 5 years.
