The Beatles have missed out on topping the charts despite selling more than two million songs in their first week on iTunes.
The fab four, sold 450,000 albums – with Abbey Road shifting the most units – for the week ending November 22 but failed to beat the likes of Rihanna’s Loud or Glee’s The Christmas Album in the US, Apple revealed.
Here Comes The Sun meanwhile proved to be The Beatle’s best-selling digital single but failed to reach the top ten. The Beatles entire back catalogue was finally released on iTunes for the first time on November 16 amid much media hoopla that the bands’ 40 year classics would dominated the charts.
The iTunes release became possible after a deal was struck between Apple founder Steve Jobs and the Beatles own company, Apple Corps and record label EMI.
