Hyde Park Stables offers guided riding tours around the stunning surrounds of Hyde Park – and you’ll get a unique view of the Olympic events taking place there.
For research purposes (of course), I mounted a fine, black-and-white-patched horse called Teddy, and the experienced, funny guide led us around the Serpentine and through the winding park in a group of two.
Others went alone with a guide – I brought a friend so I’d have someone to compete against. Everyone, from the seasoned to the beginner, is made comfortable and given all the gear they need.
The trail horses are incredibly sweet and well-behaved – so don’t expect them to rear and go chasing after the nearest commotion.
Although, my predominantly dependable horse, Teddy, did seem to have an irrational fear of lawn chairs. Prices do run a little steep at £64ph, but it is definitely well worth the experience to do at least once with your family, date or friends.
