The Dragon Bar
138-139 Shoreditch High St, E1 6JE

Tube: Shoreditch High St
The scene: Hip, lively bar which attracts a (sometimes painfully) trendy East London crowd. Expect moody lighting and a small, dark basement, which is perfect for private parties. Get here early (if the bouncers let you in) otherwise you’ll never get to the bar, then dance the night away as expert DJs earn their keep with a host of tracks from the Forties to the Eighties, including electro, hip hop, soul and funk – don’t expect, or ask for, any cheese.
The grub: Decent pub food – from stir-frys to cheese plates.
Behind the bar: A limited cocktail list, but an impressive number of draft and bottle beers – including Blue Mountain – and wines.
Bill please: Food about £8 per dish, cocktails £7.70 and beers around £4 a pint.
Verdict: A good night guaranteed and the music will definitely have you up on your feet.
