As many as 120,000 tickets for next year’s event went on sale yesterday morning, Sunday, October 6, and were bought by eager festival goers in one hour and 27 minutes. This amazingly quick shifting of the tickets beats last year’s record which was one hour and 40 mins.
“We have once again been blown away by the numbers of people who were hoping to join us at the Festival,” organiser Michael Eavis wrote on Facebook and Twitter.
“We’re sorry that many of you have missed out on a ticket. We genuinely try to make the ticket system as fair as it can be, but when demand outstrips supply some people will be left disappointed.”
Website Ticketweb had reported that it was selling as many as 3000 tickets every minute for the Worthy Farm festival, which won’t begin announcing its 2014 line up until next year although David Bowie and Fleetwood Mac are both heavily rumoured to be appearing.
Festival organiser Michael Eavis had recently revealed that more than one million people had registered for next year’s event. If you tried to get a ticket but were not able to then any returned tickets will go on sale in the spring.
