Items on the menu at The South Bank include The G.M.C (£5) – organic sourdough bread, homemade béchamel sauce and their signature cheese blend which includes two types of cheddar, mozzarella and an aged gruyere – Baby Got Mac with pulled pork, GMC BBQ sauce and macaroni cheese (£6.50), Fries with cheese dust (£4) and an exclusive Apple pie cocktail (£5).
The owners and brains behind Grill My Cheese are Nisha Patel and Nishma Chauhan who have been close friends for many years. After living together for four years and being enthusiastic cooks themselves, they travelled to America on a number of occasions and noticed that every diner and restaurant they went to, had its own take on a grilled cheese sandwich. This got them thinking that the UK needs a gourmet version, and so they decided to quit their jobs in the City and Grill My Cheese was born.
After starting their indefinite residency in farmers markets in May 2013 and then moving on to Leather Lane in September 2014, Nisha and Nishma have made a point of only serving up flavour combinations that they like to eat themselves.
The South Bank Winter Market runs until the 24 December 2015 and is open from (11am-9pm Sun-Thurs and 11am-10pm Fri & Sat).
