Guns N’ Roses’ tour has been cancelled, according to a Tweet from Axl Rose, the band’s frontman.
Last night, a Tweet from Rose’s account at Twitter.com/axlrose said: “All upcoming Guns N’ Roses dates are officially cancelled. Please contact your place of purchase for any refunds.”
Many fan sites are claiming that the Tweet was not genuine and that Rose’s twitter account must have been hacked.
In response to Rose’s Tweet, Guns N’ Roses verified Twitter account posted: “Well well well, you never can tell… We are looking into this tweet…”
Guns N’ Roses are scheduled to play their first British arena shows in four years, as well as headlining the Reading and Leeds festivals over the next couple of weeks.
The official Guns N’ Roses website is still listing the festival appearances and October’s gigs at London’s O2 Arena, Birmingham’s LG Arena and the Manchester MEN Arena as part of the band’s Chinese Democracy World Tour.
Guns N’ Roses have not yet made an official announcement about whether their tour really is cancelled.
However, guitarist Dj Ashba made no reference to the Axl’s Twitter cancellation announcement when he Tweeted a few hours later:
“Still in rapid city Buying guns with Axl, just bought me a smith & w. 44 snub nose!! America F%#k yeah!”
Twitter is awash with fans wanting to know the truth about the Guns N’ Roses tour being cancelled.
We’ll keep you posted.
