Matt Cardle has confessed that One Direction’s Harry Styles did whisper something rude in the X Factor winner’s ear at the close of the show last night.

Cameras caught Matt Cardle grinning as Harry Styles, 16, told him “think how much p****y you’re going to get!” after the 27-year-old was announced X Factor winner.

No one was sure if such shocking filth really had been uttered on the wholesome X Factor stage, but on This Morning earlier today Cardle as good as admitted that the comment was made.

“He’s a cheeky boy, he’s young. He was being cheeky” Matt told Holly and Phil when asked about Harry’s (slightly bitter, we think) words.

Matt Cardle also confessed that if X Factor haters set out to stop his single, When We Collide, getting to number one this Christmas they will probably succeed.

“You’ve just got to take everything in your stride. There are people out there that are going to want to do that, so just let them, if that’s what they want to do, “ he said.

However, the former painter and decorator told the show’s hosts that people shouldn’t dismiss his song because of its X Factor links.

“I hope people don’t hate on it because it’s affiliated with X Factor, I want people to see the song for what it is…” said Matt.

Cardle’s worries come after last year’s X Factor winner Joe McElderry was beaten to Christmas number one by a Facebook campaign that saw Rage Against The Machine’s Killing In The Name beat him to the top spot.

Meanwhile, 15,000 fans have signed up to a Facebook campaign encouraging people to buy Biffy Clyro’s original version of Many of Horror rather than Cardle’s cover When We Collide.
