Morocco in 2-3 days
Spend two or three days in Marrakesh and you’ll get a taste for Morocco that will leave you wanting more. A horse and carriage ride around the town will get you accustomed to the crazy pace of life before its time to push off into the medina and the souks. Make a beeline for a refreshing Hammam (traditional bathhouse) before checking out some of the cities impressive ruins.
At dusk head for the famous Djemaa el-Fna main square for a night to remember.
In 7-9 days
With a little more time, the so-called Imperial Cities beckon. After Marrakesh, head to north to Casablanca and see the magnificent Hassan II mosque. Next stop is Rabat, Morocco’s capital and administrative centre, where you’ll find lovely French-style boulevards and the incredible 12th century Medina.
Continue onto Meknes where you can gawp at the iconic Bab el-Mansour – the gateway to the ancient imperial city. Next stop is the green city of Fes where one million people live a uniquely modern version of life in a medieval town.
Two weeks +
Carry onto the windblown Sahara at Erg Chebbi for Berber hospitality and camel riding at dawn before heading onto the High Atlas Mountains and Todra Gorge. After that, head to the coast and check out the surfing safari feel of Essaouria and its neighbours.
