Rio is alive with parties in the run-up to its national festival, Carnival, but the Blocao parade of the city’s pets in full fancy dress always hogs the limelight.
Taking place along the iconic Copacabana beach, the parade is a chance for Brazil’s four legged family members to get involved in the fun.
“The animal excitement is taking over Copacabana,” said parade organiser, Marco Antonio Toto.
“The neighbourhood of Copacabana has currently the most dog owners per square metre. It deserves this prestigious party. Our animals deserve this celebration.”
You needn’t feel left out though — there are plenty of Carnival events happening all over the capital.
