Formula 1 isn’t just about blistering lap times, champagne sprays, and podium celebrations – it’s also about the people behind the scenes who make it all happen. And now two rising stars of the grid are giving those unsung heroes their moment in the spotlight… with your help.
Visa Cash App Racing Bulls drivers Isack Hadjar and Liam Lawson have set fans a wild challenge on Airtasker: come up with a helmet design to surprise their pit crew. Forget boring, they want ideas that are, in their own words, “big, bold and badass.”

The pair say it’s all about paying tribute to the crew who keep their cars in the fight every weekend. “The pit crew have been crushing it, and we want to find someone who can design a special edition helmet for them,” the duo explained. “Something wild, unforgettable, and creative as a thank you gift they’ll never forget. They’re the heartbeat of everything we do, so we want to create something as legendary as they are.”

If you’ve ever dreamed of making your mark on F1, this could be your shot. Pit crews are usually only noticed when a stop goes wrong, but in truth they’re the backbone of the sport – delivering two-second tyre changes, split-second repairs and keeping cars alive under pressure. Now, your artwork could end up on their heads at one of the biggest races of the season.
Hadjar and Lawson will personally scroll through the submissions and pick their favourite design. The winning concept won’t just sit on paper either, it’ll be turned into a real helmet and unveiled at the Qatar Grand Prix in December 2025, where the crew will wear it trackside.
The brief is open to absolutely anyone, no design degree required. Artists, racing fans, doodlers, dreamers… it’s all fair game. There’s a £500 reward up for grabs, but let’s be honest, the real bragging rights are seeing your creation in the pit lane on race day.
Even Airtasker CEO Tim Fung says it’s a rare chance for everyday people to leave their mark on the world’s most glamorous sport. “It’s not every day that everyday people get the chance to leave their mark on the world of F1,” he said. And he’s right. When was the last time you got asked to kit out an F1 team?
