James Bond’s 1964 Aston Martin DB5 was sold to an American businessman at a London auction for £2.9 million.

The car driven by Sean Connery playing agent 007 in Goldfinger and Thunderball was snapped up by Ohio-based collector Harry Yeaggy.

“This is a car that I’ve always wanted,” said of the vintage car which comes complete with revolving number plates and an ejector seat, “after all it is the most famous car in the world,” Yeaggy said in the statement. “My plan is to display it in my private car museum in Ohio just as it is.”

The car is believed to be the only surviving example of two original Aston Martins used in the early Bond films.

The previous owner, Philadelphia radio broadcaster Jerry Lee, plans to donate the proceeds from the sale to charity.
