The bad weather caused train delays (some of which are ongoing), power blackouts and other problems; lashing Victoria without mercy as the state was hit with heavy snowfall, flash flooding and gusty winds (winds in Melbourne reached 100km/h).

The State Emergency Service has reportedly received more than 2500 calls for help since midnight on Monday and 60,000 Melbourne homes were left without power.

Several trees have fallen, as have power lines, with Victoria Police warning drivers not to try and drive over them, tweeting to remind people to drive safely.

Victorians aren’t the only ones experiencing bad weather at the moment – large parts of south-eastern Australia have experienced problems too because of a massive low pressure system over Bass Strait.
