Prince William and Kate Middleton are set to play street hockey when they visit Canada's Northwest Territories today.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will meet former minor league ice hockey coach and player Floyd Roland in the region's capital Yellowknife.

The royal couple, who were keen to visit the lake-rich remote landscape of the Northwest Territories, are expected to play street hockey with Roland.

As meeting young people is an important part of the couple's visit to Canada, the pair will meet volunteers and officers from the Canadian Rangers and Young Canadian Rangers.

Kate and William will also travel to the Provincial Legislative Assembly to meet with the province's Youth Parliament.
