1. Insano – Beach Park, Brazil
This list wouldn’t be complete without the world’s tallest water slide. Dare-devils (because that’s what they should be called) are plummeted down the 14-storey-high slide at speeds of 100km per hour. Not one for the feint-hearted.
2. Scorpion’s Tail – Noah’s Ark Water Park, Wisconsin
10 storeys high and 400 feet long – meet Insano’s near-vertical little brother. From a capsule, riders are released down an initial drop at about 50 feet per second before taking on the loop. Yikes.
3. Summit Plummet – Blizzard Beach, Orlando
It’s the world’s tallest and fastest free-fall body slide for a reason. At 12 storeys high, riders reach speeds of up to 95km per hour on this 360-foot-long slide.
4. King Cobra – Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, New Jersey
After racing through open and closed tubes, riders plunge down a 50° slope to come face-to-face with the cobra. Will you escape its clutches?
5. Leap of Faith – Atlantis Resort, Paradise Island, Bahamas
After being propelled down a 60 foot drop in a few seconds, riders speed through a clear, acrylic tunnel and come face-to-face with neighbourhood of sharks. Don’t think that the sharks are confined to their tank either – once, one leapt onto the slide!
6. The Wildebeest – Holiday World, Santa Claus, IN
Now superseded by The Mammoth, The Wildebeest was once the world’s longest water coaster. A third of a mile long, the ride uses LIM technology to propel boats back uphill after its steep drops (seven in total). Ensue two and a half minutes of twists, turns, tunnels, hills and water-based fun.
